A Dream Come True |
|
It was Barbara Crusenberry Berry's dream to have a Crusenberry Family Reunion back in the area where she and hundreds of Crusenberry's were born. It's a little coal mining area in Lee County, Virginia which is located in the southwest corner of the state, near Cumberland Gap where Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee all come together.. She worked hard and long to get things ready for that day. A place had to be found that would accommodate a large group, people had to be notified, activities had to be planned, etc. Finally Leeman Field in Pennington Gap was selected as the location and on August 11, 2001 that dream came true for Barbara. She did well, because at that first reunion there were 61 in attendance. Also deserving credit are Barbara's sister's Shirley and Connie, Ginger Robbins Lawson, and Ada Jo Crusenberry Osborne. The second Saturday of August each year was selected to become Crusenberry Family Reunion Day in Pennington Gap.
